7 Day adventure to Democratic Republic of Congo – Explore the Unthinkable!

Day 1: Arrival in Kinshasa
Upon arrival in Kinshasa, our representative guide will welcome you at Ndjili International Airport and transfer to your hotel. Kinshasa is the capital city of D.R. Congo and the fastest growing city in Africa with almost 20 million people. Upon arrived at the hotel introduction to the country (D.R. Congo) and the city (Kinshasa). Overnight: Dinner and overnight Hotel Platinum or similar.
Day 2: Kinkole (Maluku) fishman (Congo River)
At Around 11:00 am, we head North of the city to reach KINKOLE (a fishing town in North of the city with a small port that supplies the city with agricultural products and fish. We will taste a rich local menu with diversity of Maboke namely: Fish, fresh meat… accompanied by chikwangue, plantains etc. After lunch in Kinkole, we will explore the fishing port of Kinkole and a short 30 minute rowing canoe hike on Congo River will be organized to interact with the fishermen. After the visit, we will visit one family in the neighborhood and know more about their daily activities. We will have a drink with this family. And return back to the hotel for overnight and rest. Day 3: Kisantu Botanical garden
After breakfast, departure for Zongo (the waterfalls) with a 3hours stopover in Kisantu (the botanical garden) created since 1892 by the Catholic missionary. The garden is made up of plants from all the parts of D.R.Congo and other tropical countries. The exceptional garden has more than 4000 species including among others a collection of palm trees with 92 different varieties and other collection of trees, flowers, plants…. Later proceed to Zongo where will reach around 5pm. Overnight Zongo Seli Safari or similar
Day 4: Zongo waterfalls
Zongo Falls are located on the INKISI river 130 km from Kinshasa in Central Kongo province, with a height of 65m and a flow of 650m3/sec. The falls offer you a spectacular landscape with very aquatic vegetation. The discharges of water falling on the rocks create a natural shower. After the visit proceed to the village of Mbanza Ngungu where we will visit the old train with the abandoned wagons and old residences of the former rulers (1884- 1960). Overnight: Mbuela Lodge or similar.
Day 5: Return to Kinshasa
After, breakfast, drive back to Kinshasa. Visit the National museum (interesting works of traditional Congolese Art). In the afternoon we will meet the mystical Sapeurs around Victoire Square and listen to some Suku music (Congolese Rumba). Overnight: Hotel Platinum or similar
Day 6: Lola ya bonobo and Kinshasa City tour
After an early breakfast, proceed to the bonobo’s sanctuary. The sanctuary is surrounded by the rainforest and has a lake inside. Just as you enter the sanctuary, you will be brought to the briefing room. The visit is done in groups, the first group starts at 10 am. The others are done after an interval of 1h30’ up to 4 o’clock when the final group is supposed to end the last visit.
In the afternoon, you will go for a Kinshasa city tour where you will discover Kinshasa’s vibrant culture and history on a tour of the city that explores local landmarks, a bustling market, and the banks of the churning Congo River. Traveling with a local guide, you’ll learn the stories behind each place you see, from the National Museum to Kabila’s Mausoleum and the Place of Independence. Dinner Chez Flore Restaurant, Lunch Majestic River Restaurant (with view on the river and Brazzaville) and overnight in your hotel in Kinshasa.
Day 7: Departure
with a lazy breakfast, Last visit or shopping in Kishasha city before you transfer to the Airport for departure flight back home.
