8-Day Uganda’s Birding Paradise – Bird-Watching Safari

Come to discover Uganda’s birding paradise! During this birding safari birding is done through visiting the IBA’s, with a specialized birding guide. Tour Itinerary

Day 1:– From Kigali – Transfer from Kisoro to Birding in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Early breakfast, which gets you descends and ascends you through the magical cultivated hills it’s a beautiful drive through the neck of the impenetrable forest, it gets you to a point of over 2650 meters above sea level with the Mist where the Gorillas live in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. As we check out some soaring buzzards, flocks of stuhlmanns starlings with their Arial displays. We could assemble to head for the Mubwindi swamp for the highest concentration of the Albertin endemics aiming to grip on the African green broadbill, Fraser’s eagle owl, black billed turaco and Rwenzori batis in the evening we could track the calls of the Rwenzori night jar. – overnight at Broadbill Forest camp

Day 2: – birding in Bwindi Ruhija area via “the forest neck “]

Birding in Bwindi Ruhija area via “the forest neck” birding in Bwindi forest, as we start to ascend up to our possible 2600 M above sea level through the impenetrable forest for the, black bee eater, African swees, the rare motacila clara, brown illadopsis, black billed weaver stop over at the neck for trying out the rare Cassin grey flycatcher, Dusky blue flycatcher, try the Shinning blue kingfisher. The chance for the Newmanns warbler, a member of the Uganda top ten, willards sooty boubou, oriole finch, chapins flycatcher, and the ground thrushes bar tailed trogon and a night in Bwindi as we prepare for the Highland swamp. Overnight at Broadbill Forest camp

Day 3:– Birding from Bwindi via Buhoma area to Queen Elizabeth Ishasha southern sector

birding along the stretch will lead us to grip on to some of the forest. This Impenetrable Forest is full flora and fauna, birds, butterfly and plant species plus mammals like the little bohms squirrel, forest hogs, forest Elephants, Statungas, Duikers super and the best of nature’s forest soundsTarget through Ishasha for the savannah birds, the top vulture of the region Lappet faced vulture, try the Wryneck and Africa`s most spirited eagle the Marshal eagle, larks, a try to check on the rare cassin’s flycatcher on River ishasha. Overnight at Topi Lodge Ishasha

Day 4: – Birding boat cruise on Kazinga channel Queen Elizabeth National Park & Transfer to Kibale National park “]

Explore Queen Elizabeth National Park in the cool morning with keen birding and boat viewing. We do an early game drive that exposes us to diverse animals, Big 5 members Elephants, Buffalos, big cats- Lions, Leopards more times in the evening, warthogs, Hunchback carnivals like Hyenas and many more species can be spotted along the Circuits. We have lunch en route and continue the drive to Kibale national park  – overnight at Isunga Lodge

Day 5: – Kibale N.P is a rainy forest rich in birds

Birding in Kibale fores for the Green breasted Pitta, starts very early before day break – continue Birding species like the native Great blue Turaco, joyful greenbul, redheaded bluebill, brown illadopsis, red chested owlet, olive long tailed cuckoo, the superb black bee – eater as we bird out towards the edge of the forest. We target overnight at Hoima cultural lodge or Hoima KonTik Hotel

Day 6:– Birding along the escarpment and afternoon boat cruise 

We start the day with a  Game drive Nile river Bank to the broad savannah for the most likelihood Big cats hunting, Elephants, Giraffes, Buffalos, plus more as the checklist of mammals reaches 76 we continue browsing the Drive circuits to the Delta point for a cocktail of Birds and mammals, drive out after lunch with a punctuation of stopovers at sceneries like the Rift valley escarpment on Lake Albert Uganda’s lowest point! Classic scene–back for lunch, We could take hike along the top of the falls for Pels fishing owl chance, the bat hawk, as we buy time to se if we can see the long tailed night jars, standard winged night jars, African scops owl which are active after dark. This is a magnificent classic highlight on our day in this Great Animal home! As an explosive dash of water at close range gushes through a narrow crevice.

Afternoon-3 – 5 pm a 3hours Boat ride to the base of fall where you get to see the Hippos (You have never seen more hippos yawning, Grooming in there Pods anywhere else than here- Believe me you)! Nile Crocodiles, Elephants and a variety of beautiful bird species along the banks. Top birds here is the Red throated bee eater with its beautiful displays on the river bank high cliffs, the Rock pranticole on the rocky tops after the crocodile bar, black headed batis, black headed gonolek, spotted morning thrush, beautiful sunbird among the active birds. Dinner and Overnight at Hornbill bush lodge

Day 7– Game drive & Transfer to Ziwa rhino sanctuary

After breakfast at leisure, we start the drive as we look for move birds along the Kaniyo Pabidi stretch. Birds to expect in Budiongo forest includes among the many species you should expect include; The Secretary Bird, The Giant, Pied, Malachite, Stripped, Chestnut-bellied, Blue-breasted, Woodland and the African Pygmy Kingfishers, House Martin, African Rock Martin, Lesser Striped Swallow, Ethiopian Swallow, Angola Swallow, Red-rumped Swallow, Rufous-chested Swallow, Nightingale, Rock Thrush, Pied Wheatear, Whinchat, Common Redstart, White-fronted Black Chat, Sooty Chat, Isabelline Wheatear, Common Bulbul, Cameroon Sombre Greenbul, Yellow-throated Greenbul, the Black, White-breasted, and Red-shouldered Cuckoo Shrikes, the Black and Penduline Tits, the Arrow-marked, Black-lored and Brown Babblers, Nubian Woodpecker, Cardinal Woodpecker, Brown-backed Woodpecker, Lesser Honeyguide, Scaly-throated Honeyguide, Black Scimitarbill, Green Wood Hoopoe, a number of Buzzards, Barbets, Rollers, Harriers, Vultures, Eagles, Bee-eaters, Warblers, and so forth.

Have lunch at Budongo Eco lodge before we head out to Ziwa rhino sanctuary. Around before dark and the just before dinner we could try to check out for the Spotted eagle owl cliffs – overnight at Amuka Lodge

Day 8:– Shoebill Trekking and the Rhino trek at Ziwa rhino sanctuary

With an early breakfast, we get set for an early morning (06H00) shoebill trek and canoe ride through the swamp not only gives you the opportunity to find the shoebill, but also to see the beautiful Ugandan sunrise over Lugogo Swamp. Before we start the on foot trek the rhinos. We target to arrive Entebbe in the evening to catch up with the flight at 2300 Hours.
