Detailed Itinerary For The Classic Luxury Primate Tour

Day 1: Arrival Entebbe International Airport

Arrive in Entebbe, Uganda – a nation of stunning greenery, deep lakes, soaring mountains and rich biodiversity. Transfer to your hotel for an evening at leisure ready to have an ultimate Uganda classic luxury Primate tour. Dinner and Overnight at Hotel No.5 Entebbe

 

Day 2: Scheduled domestic flight to Kisoro Airstrip – Transfer to Bwindi

Start your Uganda classic luxury Primate tour with an early breakfast and briefing we transfer to Entebbe International airport ready to catch a domestic flight to Kisoro airstrip in southern Uganda. During the short flight you will be able to see Uganda´s diversity from high up. We will pick you up from the airstrip and drive you up to Nkuringo. A short distance that can take up to 2 hours. Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge is set 2160 meters above sea level and offers stunning views looking north over the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, south to the volcanoes of the Virunga and west into the rift valley and the DR Congo.

 

After lunch we will take you for a community walk introducing you to the famous Batwa pygmies who originally occupied the impenetrable forest together with the Mountain Gorillas. with one of our guides from the Lodge. Dinner and Overnight at Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge

 

Day 3: Mountain Gorilla Encounter – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest 

Spend a day tracking the endangered mountain gorillas, spending up to an hour with them. See mothers keeping infants close as they knucklewalk on three limbs. Watch scampering toddlers reined in by an attentive father, whose job is to protect his family. When you encounter a mountain gorilla in the wild, there is no mistaking the bond that exists between primate and man — and no escaping the poignant fact these creatures lie on the brink of extinction. Day 4:  Guided Walking safari through Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

You have the opportunity to undertake a full day trekking, accompanied by our specialised local guides through the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest one of the most diverse habitats on earth and home to 120 species of mammals, 200 varieties of tree and more than 50 reptiles.

 

08.00am with your guide commence the Nkuringo – Buhoma activity into the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park as part of the Kashasha River and Ivy River trails. This is a full day walk where there would be opportunity to visit the Munyaga River falls in the forest. The emphasis of this activity is for your walking guide to share his knowledge of the forest that you come into contact with and not simply an A to B. The walking distance would be about 15km; proceed to Buhoma as you immerse yourself with this Uganda classic luxury Primate tour. Overnight at Buhoma Lodge or Mahogany Springs.

 

Day 5: Full day Queen Elizabeth National Park – Living into the wild

After breakfast transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park home to elephants, lions, hippos, buffalo and baboons. Conduct game drive in the Ishasha sector in search of the tree climbing lion, continue to the Kasenyi sector proceeding directly to the head of the Mweya Peninsular to conduct a launch trip on the Kazinga Channel which is a  home to one of the largest concentrations of hippopotamus, as well as herds of elephants, buffalo, and other wildlife that come to drink from the river. The Kazinga also attracts a tremendous variety of bird species including the African Eagle, Open-Billed Stork, and Pied Kingfishers. After the boat cruise you will head to your accommodation for the night en-route to the accommodation conduct game drive around the Kasenyi sector. Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge

 

Day 6: Game Drive Queen Elizabeth & Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Enjoy another game drive as you drive to Kibale Forest National Park – World’s primate capital with the most varied tracts of tropical forest in Uganda, 70 mammal species and 13 primate species. The drive takes about 2-3 hours arriving on time in Fort Portal for lunch.

 

After lunch we will shake off the long drive with a walk to the “top of the world” along crater lakes which this area is also famous for.  Overnight at Crater Safari Lodge

 

Day 7:  Chimpanzee Trekking & Guided Walk at Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary 

Kibale Forest is home to 11 species of primates, including chimpanzees and mangabeys, as well as 300 species of birds. Rise early this morning for the start of your chimpanzee trek. Barks of baboons occasionally pierce the forest’s silence as you make your way along the trail. This afternoon, Ride Like a Local by African canoe across the crater lake, watching for wildlife and admiring the scenery.

 

In the afternoon, we shall have a guided nature walk in Bigodi wetland sanctuary situated in the highlands of western Uganda, in the shadow of the Ruwenzori Mountains, the famous “Mountains of the Moon.” Overnight at Crater Safari Lodge

 

Day 8:  Scheduled Domestic flight back to Entebbe from Kasese Airstrip

With an early morning breakfast, transfer from Kibale Fort portal to Kasese Airstrip to board afternoon scheduled flight to Entebbe. Depending on flight time, check in at Papyrus Guesthouse Entebbe for day room – use. Transfer to Entebbe International Airport for evening flight as we have come to an end of our Uganda classic luxury Primate tour.
