This East African magic safari route starts in Nairobi Kenya. It takes you the great plains of Masai Maraa and Serengeti national park as we trail the Wildebeest migration from Maraa to Serengeti or vice versa. The East African magic ends with Gorilla tracking in Southwest Uganda. Meet and greet mountain gorillas in their natural environment, the stunning afro montane forest of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Spend an extra night at the edge of Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National park famously for tree climbing lions.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival In Nairobi, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Kenya

Arrival in Nairobi, meet and greet services by our representative at the airport. Transfer to city hotel. Check in and rest of the time is spent at leisure as you wait for the safari. Overnight at Melili hotel Nairobi

 

Day 2: Transfer from Nairobi to Lake Nakuru – Home of Flamingos and Rhinos

Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive towards the Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park arriving in time for lunch. Check in at the lodge and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the park that also takes you to the shores of the lake, famous for its bird-life, especially flamingos that form a pink hue across the lake. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge. Overnight at Ziwa Bush lodge

Day 3: Morning Game drive & Transfer to Masai Mara Conservacy

Depart early for a morning game drive in Lake Nakuru en route to Masai Mara National Reserve. The prolific Mara still holds on as one of the few places left on earth where wildlife still lives comparatively undisturbed, in the numbers that once roamed the plains and forests of Africa. As the northern tip of the vast Serengeti ecosystem, the Mara hosts the spectacular seasonal migration of many thousands of wildebeest, zebras and attendant predators. Arrive in time for lunch then have an afternoon game drive or Visit one of the Masai communities to experience the authentic Masai cultures.  Overnight at Muthu Kekorook Lodge or Explore nature Mara lodge

Day 4: Full Day Masai Mara Expedition – Living into the Wild

Spend the day on game drives exploring the Masai Mara. The open grasslands are home to incredibly rich and varied wildlife and the awesome, annual migration of millions of wildebeest and antelope is the highlight of any visitor to Africa from July to September. The Masai Mara Game Reserve is arguably Kenya’s most popular game sanctuary. It is the most famous and most visited game reserve in Kenya. The film ‘Out of Africa’ was made to a great extent in this reserve.

 

Virtually every type of wildlife can be seen in the Mara due to the migration across the Kenya/Tanzania border which is a spectacle worth seeing as millions of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle from Serengeti plains cross the Tanzania border at the Mara River to into Maasai Mara grazing fields from late June. The dramatic crossing of the river and the predators who prey on the herds can be viewed from early July to August. The reserve abounds with birdlife since close to about 452 species have been recorded. Overnight at Muthu Kekorook Lodge or Explore nature Mara lodge

Day 5: Masai Mara Game Reserve – Isebania Boarder – Lake Victoria

Have an early breakfast, then proceed to Tanzania through Isebania/Sirari Border, cross northern Serengeti. You will have lunch en-route; have evening game drive before check-in at your hotel for dinner and overnight. Clear immigration and entrer Northern Serengeti is home to the greatest concentration of elephant in the Serengeti, as well as good numbers of lion, leopard, cheetah and hyena and diverse resident animals such as giraffe, topi, eland and hippo. You will enjoy your overnight stay ready for the next adventure tomorrow as we keep tracing the hidden gems on this East African magic safari. Overnight at Acacia Migration Camp or Into Wild Africa (Accomodation will depend on the wildebeest Migration season)

 

Day 6: Drive To Serengeti National Park

The legendary Serengeti Plain is your destination for the next two days, a vast rolling plain whose sparse vegetation allows for some of the best wildlife viewing in the world. The annual migration of wildebeest and zebra is one of the park’s great attractions, but throughout the year the Serengeti is excellent for seeing predators such as lion, leopard and cheetah, along with elephant, giraffe, hyena, hippo, rhino, and many varieties of antelopes and birds. You will enjoy a picnic lunch as you drive to central of Serengeti. The evening is free to rest. Overnight at Acacia Migration Camp / Into wild Africa tented camp

 

Day 7: Follow The Migration Paths In Serengeti Ecosystem

Today you will leave after breakfast and with lunch packed you will drive as you follow the wildebeest migrations paths depending with the location. We will spend the day following the great migration of about 1.5 million Wildebeests and 500,000 Zebras migrating through the Serengeti Ecosystem. Dangers is everywhere and packs of lion, cheetah and other carnivores are everywhere waiting for the right moment to strike. Crocodiles in Serengeti River does no mercy as the herds cross the river. Thousands are swept by the arrogant waters and the scenes are amazing. Day 8: Tracing The Big Five In Serengeti

Today we enjoy morning and afternoon game viewing drives on the vast Serengeti plains. In the early morning and evening light, the Serengeti landscape is stunningly beautiful. The Serengeti ecosystem supports the greatest remaining concentration of plains game in Africa, including more than three million large mammals. The park is one that can never disappoint. One is spoilt by the variety of bird and wildlife species in this game reserve. Depending with wildlife movement at different times, we may serve picnic lunch at a picnic site or take hot lunch from our lodge/camp. Day 9: Morning Game Drive In Serengeti – Drive To Ngorongoro

You will enjoy yet another morning game drive in Serengeti. Drive back to the camp for breakfast and check out before starting your journey to Ngorongoro. We arrive at our crater rim lodge to a warm welcome, check in and then lunch. This afternoon just relax and enjoy the breathtaking and spectacular views of the Ngorongoro scenery, the largest unbroken caldera in the world. Dinner and overnight at your game lodge. Overnight at Ngorongoro Rhino lodge

Note: a warm jacket or cardigan is highly recommended.

 

Day 10: Ngorongoro Crater Rim Experience

This morning we drive and descend some 610 meters into the crater, which is home to an abundance of wildlife and a photogenic paradise, for a full day of game viewing drive with picnic lunch at a private scenic site (hippo’s pool). Ngorongoro Crater, the largest intact caldera in the world teams with an abundance of wildlife permanently resident on the crater floor. Prides of lions, herds of Cape buffalo, impala, Thompson gazelles, rhino, golden and black backed jackal, zebra, cheetah, leopard and the spotted hyena freely roam on the crater floor plains. Unmatched for its natural variety and breath taking beauty, there are few places on earth where such a tremendous diversity of landscapes exist inside a region this size. Apart from its wildlife riches, the crater is also home to hundreds of bird species, refreshing in the small lakes in the crater floor. Day 11: Transfer To Kilimanjaro – Regional Flight To Entebbe

You leave the Ngorongoro for Entebbe. We set the last sights to the beautiful Ngorongoro crater conservancy as we proceed to Kilimanjaro for your scheduled flight to Entebbe for the famous mountain gorilla trekking. Enjoy the first sight of Uganda with Lake Victoria at your views and get ready to explore more of Uganda’s hidden gems during your East African magic safari adventure. Overnight at Papyrus guesthouse

Day 12:Transfer To Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

Early morning after breakfast at 7.00 am the driver will pick you from the guesthouse and then leave for the South West of Uganda. The first part takes us through central Uganda. They will have Lunch in Mbarara at the famous Igongo Culture Centre and from here we will continue the journey through Rukugiri District passing villages, cultivated farms, and hills before you reach in Ruhija or Buhoma sectors of Bwindi. Check in at Lodge, dinner and overnight at Gorilla Mist Camp

Day 13: Gorilla Trekking Day – Transfer To Spend Your Evening At The Leisure

The day real day with Gorillas – At 7:45 am they will be at the starting point of Bwindi Impenetrable NP for pre-briefing and at 8:30 they will start the trek, after finding the gorillas they will spend with maximum 1 hour. All visitors are expected back to the starting point by 7:00 P:M. The walks can take 3-9 hours depending on where you find the gorillas. It is a real hiking and being physically fit is recommended. Depending on the time you can back from the trekking, we proceed to spend the night in the middle of Africa’s second deepest lake on Kyahugye Island. Overnight at Lake Bunyonyi Eco Resort

Day 14: Boat Cruise On Lake Bunyonyi – Transfer To Kampala / Entebbe

With a relaxed breakfast, we can have an optional game drive into the Ishasha plains with chances to spot tree climbing lions before we set off to Kampala / Entebbe. If flying out on this day, consider late evening flight. Or we can have an overnight in Entebbe and fly the next day.
