Tour Itinerary

 

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport

Our safari representative will be readily waiting to cheer you and welcome you for your Uganda & Tanzania combo safari – Mountain Gorillas and Wildlife Big 5 Safari. You will then transfer to your Hotel in Entebbe to relax and get ready for the adventure starting the next day. Overnight at Papyrus guesthouse Entebbe

 

Day 2: Transfer to the crater lakes area by Fort Portal – Evening guided nature walk Top of the world!

After breakfast, we start the 14 Days Uganda & Tanzania combo safari – Mountain Gorillas and Wildlife Big 5 Safari with a transfer towards the crater lakes area by Fort Portal. It’s a long drive with our target to have lunch at the lodge as the distance was cut yesterday the pressure and fatigue is lessened. A punctuation of stopovers at sceneries like the typical African village setup in the far countryside and tea plantations along the drive offer us chances of stretching. We check in afternoon to an area with an amazing display of lovely scenery. Afterwards, we shall have a guided nature walk to the top of the world. On a clear day, you can see the Rwenzori mountain ranges and the surrounding crater lakes. Overnight accommodation – Isunga Lodge

 

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi wetland walk

With an early breakfast, head into the forest of the Primate City of Kibale in the morning for chimpanzee trekking. This is a three-hour experience. As an option you can upgrade to participating in Chimpanzee habituation, where you get to follow the chimps for the whole day, a truly exclusive experience (this is an optional activity that is not included in the stated price. Inform us when booking if you wish to do the habituation). Kibale Forest national park is a rainy forest and a home to over 1500 Chimpanzees. Here you have the chance to see the chimps close up and capture shots of our closet cousins in the jungle in their frenzy exciting moods as they are grooming, building relationships, bringing up young ones, think and sharing food, plus rare bird species following them. In the forest 9 different species of Monkeys are found so you have chances of seeing red colobus, red tailed monkey and bush babies on a great day. After the trek your guide picks you and takes you back to the lodge. Relax for lunch and in the afternoon Bigodi nature walk. Overnight accommodation – Isunga lodge

 

Day 4: Explore Queen Elizabeth with Game drive and Kazinga channel boat-cruise 

Crater exploration with a walk to crater lake, if you are lucky you might see different species of Monkeys, such as red colobus, red tailed monkey and bush babies. More in the forest canopy colored aviation creatures-butterflies various bird species like the native Great blue Turaco, joyful greenbul, olive long tailed cuckoo, the superb black bee eater. Then transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Option to drive further southwards with the Rwenzori ranges (Longest in Africa) in view or drive through the Crater lakes in the Hills through to sample out the surprising diversity of Savannah trees and wildlife! In the late evening, we shall take on a boat cruise along the famous Kazinga channel that links lake Edward and George. Look out for the hippos, elephants, buffaloes without forgetting the Nile crocodile and many water birds like the pied kingfisher, fish eagle among others. Day 5: Full day Game drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park including Ishasha sector famous for the tree climbing lions

Discover Queen Elizabeth National Park in the cool morning with an early game drive that exposes us to diverse animals. Possibility to see Big 5 members Elephants, Buffalos, big cats- Lions, Leopards more times in the evening, warthogs- Hunchback carnivals like Hyenas and many more species that are residents to this park are spotted along the Circuits as we drive along. This 14 day Uganda & Tanzania combo safari – Mountain Gorillas and Wildlife Big 5 Safari will also introduce to you to the avian life of Uganda. There is a rich bird life especially our version of storks in the wetland sports as we reach the Flamingoes in the salt lakes. Continue the drive towards the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth (Ishasha sector) very famous for the tree climbing lions. Overnight accommodation at Topi Lodge Ishasha

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable forest with a game drive in Southern sector of Queen Elizabeth – Famous for Tree Climbing Lions

We will drive off in the adventurous vast savannah of the Ishasha area of Queen Elizabeth NP with Topis, the southern version of Elephants and hopefully with the lions high in the Fig tree branches. This is one of two areas in Africa where lions have the habit of regularly climbing trees to take a rest. Transfer on to Bwindi mountain gorillas through a beautiful drive taking you from the savanna via cultivated hills to the jungle covered mountains of Bwindi. (If we reach early we can do the walk and mix with the locals or relax with the Orphans group performers) Overnight accommodation – Buhoma community Rest camp / Broadbill Forest camp

 

Day 7: Living with Mountain Gorillas – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park 

Head into the impenetrable forest for a close encounter with the Mountain Gorillas. Spend a day tracking the endangered Mountain Gorilla, spending up to an hour among them. See mothers keeping infants close as they knucklewalk on three limbs. Watch scampering toddlers reined in by an attentive father before having a bush packed lunch. This day we spend the  night in the middle of Africa’s second depeest Lake on Kyahugye Island on Lake Bunyonyi. Have a relaxed evening as you stare at the fascinating lake of many birds from the veranda of your cozy cottage. overnight at Lake Bunyonyi Eco Resort.

 

Day 8: Transfer to Entebbe with via the Equator

We start the day with a relaxed breakfast before starting the drive to Entebbe. With lunch stop on the way and getting some time to stretch the legs at the equator with a photo moment. Drive to Entebbe and have a relaxed evening as you get ready for the flight to Tanzania the next day. Overnight Papyrus Guesthouse

 

Day 9: Guided nature walk Entebbe Botanical gardens – Regional flight from Entebbe to Kilimanjaro Airport with Uganda Airlines at 1400 Hours arriving at 1700 Hours 

With a lazy breakfast, get ready for relaxed guided walk in the Botanical garden with chances of spotting different primates and bird species. Have an early lunch and get ready for the air transfer to Kilimanjaro international airport where your guide will pick you and proceed to Arusha for an overnight. Overnight at Arusha Planet Hotel

 

Day 10Full day Lake Manyara National Park or Tarangire national Park

The second phase of the 14 day Uganda & Tanzania combo safari – Mountain Gorillas and Wildlife Big 5 Safari proceeds with Lake Manyara National Park game drive tour, one of the most beautiful Tanzanian Parks with the most different environments in relatively small area. The Lake Manyara National Park is one of the Tanzanian parks with the highest biodiversity. In an area of only 330 kilometers (of which 230 kilometers are occupied by the lake), there are five different ecosystems. The park is inhabited by over 380 types of birds and a big number of animal species, including elephants, buffalos, zebras, giraffes, leopards, lions, baboons, hippos, antelopes, warthogs, and so many others. We will have a picnic lunch while dinner and an overnight stay will be at the lodgeOvernight at Eileen’s tree Inn.

 

Day 11: Transfer to explore the Serengeti National Park 

Today we enter the Serengeti National Park from the less visited western gate, and you will marvel at the multitude of animal and bird life while journeying through this acacia-spotted savannah. Game sightings abound. We arrive at the in time to enjoy a respite from the dirt roads and heat of the day and enjoy a hearty lunch. Later on in the afternoon, as the animal kingdom comes alive, continue your search for the “Big 5″ – lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino – while taking in the vastness of the Serengeti plains heading for the lodge as the sun sets on this magnificent animal kingdom. Overnight at Into Wild Africa Tented Camp

 

Day 12: Experience Serengeti National Park – Seronera Area – Living with the predators

After an early rise spend the morning exploring the vast Serengeti and we move from location to location in search of sometimes elusive game and visit a waterhole known for its Hippos and alligators. Visit the Masai Kopjes, airstrip area and then back to the heart of Serengeti. Overnight at Into Wild Africa Tented Camp

 

Day 13: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater – Explore Wildlife Natural Haven

After an easy early rise we head towards Ngorongoro Crater, cited as ‘Africa’s Eden’ and the ’8th Natural Wonder of the World’. The Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtaking natural wonder referred to as the world’s biggest wildlife zoo, due to its high density of resident game. In the afternoon we descend to the crater floor where you will be amazed by the sheer number and diversity of animals and birdlife. Standing in our pop up safari vehicle the viewing opportunities are endless, just deciding which way to look and what to look at, the choices are unlimited. Day 14: Masai Cultural Experience – Transfer To Kilimanjaro International Airport

With an early breakfast, we drive to mto wa mbu (River of mosquitoes) for a morning cultural immersion and walking safari with the Masai. We can decide to have a lavish local lunch in the areas before we head back to Arusha or to the airport for your flight back home with lots of African memories as we have successfully completed our 14 day Uganda & Tanzania combo safari – Mountain Gorillas and Wildlife Big 5 Safari adventure. Here you can plan to catch a flight on to other adventures or back to your home country full of memories to marvel over for a long time.
