Our amazing Mountain Gorilla Trekking And Nyiragongo Hike adventure takes around the rolling Hills of Rwanda to the relaxed Lake Kivu shared by Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo. A relaxed evening overlooking Lake Kivu will keep your energized before we cross the Goma border and proceed to Kibati where the amazing hike to the Nyiragongo summit begins. The 4-5-hour hike through lush rainforest takes you to the spot where the volcano erupted in 2002. Spend the night at the crater rim 3470 m above the see level.

Tour Itinerary for the 5 Day Mountain Gorilla Trekking And Nyiragongo Hike
Day 1: Arrival To Rwanda At Kigali International Airport – Transfer To Lake Kivu
Upon arrival at Kigali international airport, our representative will be readily available to welcome and receive you before showing you around The Land of A thousand hills at leisure as you drive through the rolling hills to Lake Kivu in Rubavu were you will chill overlooking the amazing Lake. It’s a great place to get energized as you get ready to take on the famous 5 Day Mountain Gorilla Trekking And Nyiragongo Hike. Dinner and overnight at Paradis Malahide Lake Kivu.
Day 2: Cross Goma Border D R Congo – Transfer To Virunga At Leisure
Arrive at Grande Barriere border crossing at 11:30 and ensure check-in with Virunga tourism office by 12:30pm which is conveniently located in the Grande Barriere border post building, opposite passport control. Guests will receive gorilla and volcano trek permits which must be presented at the start of each trek. Visitors will be transported to Gikeri Ranger Post. Overnight in Kibumba Tented Camp
Day 3: Mountain Gorilla Trekking In Virunga
After an early breakfast, trekkers will head down to meet their Ranger guides and have a briefing before the gorilla trek. Treks usually require 1-2.5 hours of hiking each way, depending on location of the gorilla group being trekked and the difficulty of the terrain. After spending the allotted hour with the gorillas, trekkers will return to camp, enjoy a late lunch and have the rest of the day at leisure, including time for nature walks and bird watching. Day 4: Mount Nyiragongo Hike
After breakfast, guests will be transported to the Kibati Ranger Post at 8:15am, the starting point for the Nyiragongo volcano trek. On arrival, guests will receive a briefing and will have the opportunity to hire porters. The climb up the volcano will take around four to six hours. Overnight on the summit of Nyiragongo Mount.
Day 5: Descend Mount Nyiragongo Hike
As we keep enjoying the Ultimate experience of staying at the Top of the volcano, Guests will leave the crater rim at 6:00am and start the descent back to Kibati. Average descent time is four hours. On arrival at the ranger post, guests will be transported back to Goma with drop-off at the Grande Barriere. Proceed to Kigali for your international flight as we conxlude our 5 Day Mountain Gorilla Trekking And Nyiragongo Hike
